Patchy happens to be the librarian of SDM, and the resident teacher. Koakuma is listed as the "Library Assistant" on the wiki, so one would assume that she helps Patchouli maintain it.

That doesn't really mean she make much money since Marisa will "Borrow" her books and never give it back. So instead,she maybe losing money.

They don't get paid, except in food and shelter, not even Sakuya. Of course, nobody but Sakuya does any work, anyway. (Sakuya probably has to handle the family accounts, however, so even if she doesn't get paid, she may get a chance to slip herself some nice things on the side...) In fact, it's a wonder how the SDM has any money at all, since Remilia doesn't own any kind of known business, and any money it may have had from before would not have been Yen, as they aren't origianlly Japanese. I guess if Patchu wants more disposable income, she can just author some basic magic books for sale in the human village, or something...
