Why is the violin almost as big as a Cello? That's some huge violin.
Not even close. A cello is way too thick for anyone to even think of playong one under the chin.

Probably a big viola. Cheek rests weren't invented until early 1800's and a few violins/violas still don't have them. Around the same time was also introduced a tail spike for cellos. The fact that Lunasa's not stabbing herself in the neck is just as solid evidence for it not being a cello as it is for not being a violin.
