Now this is interesting to me because she actually already has post-oath/EX lines. And I was under the impression that if one of them got those lines they were probably never going to get an oath skin and those extra lines would sort of fill that role.

Correction. After zooming to 120%, the gun is actually BARREN of any decorations. The round lens glass thingie and the starter DD statues are in fact, part of her BELT DRESSPIECE.
She's going for the technomagical steampunk look here, which is absolutely gorgeous.
Considering how this month t5 box is a Royal Navy one and we’ve been seen banquet skins recently do you think this may be foreshadowing to a future British event
God, I hope they tone down her DD-fetish for this skin and focus more on the Commander instead.
Heavily doubt it. I'm honestly surprised she has an oath skin at all now. Seems very out-of-character for her. She's like one of, if not the only ship, to be explicitly not into the Commander.

I bet DDs are involved somehow.
"Commander has a lot of DDs in their harem. So if I 'marry' the Commander I get to have more chances to get closer to them! *Big Brain Moment*"

Or something along those lines.
Ark Royal, in her Love line, says:
If I were closer to you, Commander, I could get closer with the destroyers too... Of... of course, that can only happen with your approval. I'm more than happy to help you with destroyer inspections! Is that all right, commander?
Was there any particular reason they made Ark Royal... this? I'm no Royal Navy historian, but did the actual ship have any interactions with destroyers that were different from any other capital ship?

Azur Lane approach seems to be mostly "we insert random flanderized animay tropes" to spice things up and make characters distinctive". And some of the flanderization get... stronger when the game gets adapted into Japanese then into English. Like Cheshire's cat puns.
Edit: In particular, I think some of them those tropes are lifted from Kancolle chars (particularly fan interpretations of such), flanderized further and then applied at semi-random. So... take KC Nagamon (whose trait made some sense considering her history and popularity among kids), and turn it up to eleven, I guess.

Here is a fun one, when you get a Shoukaku
Kancolle Shoukaku:
I'm Shoukaku, the first of the Shoukaku-class carriers. I will try my best with Zuikaku to try and live up to the names of my seniors in the first and second aviation divisions.
Azur Lane Shoukaku (EN, but other languages have similar lines):
As the flagship of the Fifth Carrier Division, I, Shoukaku, shall do my best to become as good as those esteemed senpai in the First Carrier Division, or something... *giggles* That was on purpose~
The history behind it was that she was only ever escorted by destroyers and never by any other type of ship.
I've heard of it, but that obviously can't be true. Just ask Sheffield. She spent a lot of time together with Arky in Force H, where Sheffy acted as radar guard ship (Sheffy was also the first RN ship to be equipped with radar). This later led to the infamous friendly fire incident when Sheffy was detached to shadow Bismarck without Arky's knowledge.
Here's Ark Royal's service history. She gets escorted by cruisers all the time. These include Arethusa, Curlew, Delhi, Despatch, Newscastle and HMS Enterprise (the RN Emerald-class light cruiser). Heavy cruisers Berwick and Sussex also escorted her before; Sussex in particular was explicitly ordered to join her convoy to provide AA covering fire (for Ark Royal, specifically).
Even the Valiant (the RN battleship) also provided AA and radar cover once.
So, this just sounds like one of those random 'factoid' s fan comes up to justify a character's trait, and then it got peddled around as though it was actual "fact". Like how "admiral" was mispronounced as "ad-mai-ruhl" for KC Warspite (where people pulled out "that's how they pronounced it in the past" out of their ass). Classic fake news.
For me it’s not even that; I’d bear with it, except the word "intimate" is used which is already huge trouble considering the context of "intimate" in the game.
