Wait, there is prejudice against Touhou fans? Are fandoms exclusive cults nowadays?
I think it's more of the fact that theres a lot and i mean a LOT of touhou fans, its without a doubt that some other fandoms have touhou fans in their masses. Personally, I've never been able to get into the whole touhou thing theres also the fact that i hate bulletstorm games. Still, i do feel the hate is a bit overwhelming.

I think a majority of fans haven't even played the games, most are in for the music, doujins, and other fanmade content. Touhou has something for everyone, so it's no surprise they're easy to find.
I'm a hardcore Touhou fan: games, music, doujins and fumos (only 2), yet I've never faced some kind of conflict when jumping to other fandoms. I faced some comments in the Kancolle fandom, but because then, like 6 years ago, the clash between these two games was kinda new and entertaining.
People has really toned down with the hate to about what other people like.

I personally think the inter-series warfare is more of a recent thing than anything. Maybe not in Japan (IDK what the general fanbases are like there), but here in the US a lot of people had no clue what Anime was until the past decade. Good streaming websites and services weren't really common so if you were interested in anime, it was get whatever you could get your hands on. Just finding someone else interested in anime was a rarity, no one cared if one liked shows they thought were bad.
Ironically I think smut is what garnered a lot of attention towards anime. Practically everyone knows what it is now, and now people are a lot pickier about content (almost like the same trend with how people evaluate video games as opposed to 2-3 decades ago).

I'd like a clarification on the translator note please.
Actually this is kind of nasty name-calling,eg calling each other fags is quite normal in China, just like how today's internet de-fanged a lot of swear words in English until we call friends as ur mom gay lol is not a weird thing anymore. Another example would be China internet will use 舰女人 jokingly, which means ship women, but 舰 has the same pronunciation as 贱, thus means bitchy women.
This is why in original tn I exclusively use the word Touhoufags, a relatively normal touhou fan will be known as 东方厨.
I suspect you are an eastern dog,
Eastern dog is a pejorative term that refers to Touhou fans within other fandoms
