Is there a tag for stupid? Because Sanae just earned it by forgetting what the original problem was.
not so much being stupid but rather a force of habit. I have done similar things and in this situation the choice between prying the rice cooker open again for seconds, or leave it open for cold seconds, I think I would prefer option 1.
My rice cooker uses a different locking mechanism. There's a latch in the lid that sticks out out of the front, sorta like the latch on your standard door handle. Pushing the button makes it retract, and if you push the latch the button also moves to the open position.
The last two comics had me curious as to whether I could open it should the thing ever break, so I slid a credit card into the gap until it hit the switch and rotated it. It opened on the first try, so I guess the angled half of the latch was still accessible.

Given she closed our while talking about what a problem it would have been if it stayed closed..
