Interesting you mention that. I think that the idea of a "year of the cicadas" would be a strange concept to the Japanese, or to most other parts of the world which have cicadas. Only in North America are there certain cicadas with very long life cycles that all run in sync, so that they all emerge at once at infrequent intervals (13 or 17 years).
