This is a Schrödinger scenario where she survived that same horrific experiment in an alternate timeline. Both are test subjects for super-soldier durability research, but this version is a success while the other one isn't quite as lucky.
I like to think this is a Chekhov's Gun / Dog Bites Back scenario where she not only lives after losing her skin the first time, but completely tears apart the machine that put her through that pain. Cue the facility falling into shambles by their own creation(s) and you have a literal example of Laser-Guided Karma and a little bit of schadenfreude off-screen.
