... this is a fanservice porn image, why the fuck is the flagger being so pendic?
Happens every time with Robutts-sama's stuff. It almost seems like this one dude hates him for some reason so he waits for new drawings to come out just so he can flag them asap xD
I hope you guys know that it's not one person flagging robutts stuff. The rate of re-flags is pretty high for this artist.
I bet it's just one angry fella with multiple accounts.
Imagine this -- his teacher from the art school was in absolute awe of Robutts' talent, treating them like his own kid and looking forward to them becoming a great painter. Turns out they dropped out of school to draw porn instead, so he got salty and vowed to flag all of their works on this site for weeaboos. #truestory

Nice assumptions. I'm sorry, but it's no miracle that this stuff gets flagged. It is considered "grotesque" via the ToS and it doesn't matter if it's porn or not. Porn does accumulate a high amount of favs, that's true. But nude-filters do also get a high amount of favs. Well, from a rule point of view those things are seperate and have different reasons of rejection. But the argument here is that favorites and score doesn't matter. I have said on another robutts post that they are a good artist per se and I'm to believe others would agree with me here. So it definitely isn't hatred, either. But the thing is that multiple users and apparently also the Approvers consider that stuff as too "grotesque" or have other reasons to reject that stuff. In other words, people are getting frustrated by the flagging because they want to see "porn" in all of its variations. Ranging from loli to thick thighs. However, other people think of that stuff as grotesque and don't see that this stuff fits to Danbooru. Robutts has gained a rank, so his stuff gets more attention than other stuff that also depicts "grotesque" anatomy. You may call this hypocritical and maybe it is, but people don't have the time to monitor all posts each day. And blacklisting also doesn't work, because to blacklist "huge breasts" or "thick breasts" would mean to blacken out a large amount of posts. Blacklisting "robutts" may be an option, but then nobody ever really complained about flags against guro images which are blacklisted by default. And it's not like robutts is only drawing "grotesque" stuff (post #3055327, post #3011602). They are very good at drawing scenery-related images.
All I want to express is that the flags against robutts do have a reason and they are all valid (sometimes exaggerated), even though the appeal on this post says otherwise. People disagreeing with that is fine. But one should also understand where a flag is coming from.
I bet it's just one angry fella with multiple accounts.
I can assure you that's not the case. I've talked with at least four different people who regularly flag robutts' stuff whenever they find an egregiously bad piece.
I was fully aware of that, my comment was supposed to be a joke and I thought it would be self-evident from how silly it was. But thank you for taking the time to write a detailed explanation like that.
I only made an account in 2017, but I've been on Booru anonymously for years before that and never have I seen such petty flagging as the one Robutts' works receive. It could very well be that I'm biased though because I'm really into his works so I check for updates regularly, and don't really follow other 'controversial' artists, thus missing out on all the drama surrounding them. I also agree fully that the anatomy of most of his girls is somewhat off, but I believe the overall quality is good enough to get his stuff a place here, and there are some other works which receive no flags despite being somewhat off as well (post #2638914).
tbh I'm against flagging good-quality-somewhat-off stuff in the first place. People have different kinks, some are into fat (to the point of deformation) thighs, others like boney limbs. Not really my business, if an artwork is of decent quality and the deformation caters to someone's fetish, then the right course of action is to close the post and go look at something else. Maybe leave a comment expressing your concerns, but don't flag. Wank and let wank.
Personally, I think we'll reach an ultimatum where this artist's work is prohibited from this site due to all the controversy their art seems to bring. For anyone who isn't prepared for that inevitability, I say bookmark their home pages and follow them outside of danbooru. It's not like they're gonna go away forever.
@Provence I'm guessing there's also something to be said about a ToS becoming partly obsolete. I find it hard to justify how a 2:1 hips:waist ratio is grotesque while breasts 6 times the size of a teen's head are instantly A-OK. The former is extremely more common than the latter in actual real life proportions. As a matter of fact, the former lands you a top tier modeling position into a mainstream career while the latter calls for immediate surgery and life ruination. Most people outside the 90's anime bubble, and nowadays even those who browse this kind of porn material will call only the latter one grotesque, no question. Gigastic breasts are a much more niche/unrealistic fetish than wide hips. That is by definition how things evolve to be called grotesque. When people stop identifying with or aligning human images to a particular thing. Mind you, I'm not hoping for a stricter ban on breast size, I'm just drawing comparisons.
Seeing how some tags related to this seem to be popular (curvy, plump, wide hips, thick thighs, huge ass, etc) no matter the artist, should also be an indication that perhaps more people than the flaggers like the content and there's no personal conspiracy/agenda, it could simply be a matter of changing taste across a wide sample size which is creating conflict.
Lastly, since being strict is one of this website's strength, it could be beneficial to look into some individual flaggers' QC specifically given the flag on this very post was blatantly given without even looking at most of the image.
I understand the relics of the 90's anime fetish standard are hard to give up when one lives in their bubble but times change. A quick look at traffic and trends shows the website has been on a slow but steady decline for some years now. Meanwhile, competing aggregator boorus being more lenient on the aforementioned tags seem to be doing better and growing, as those very tags specifically do seem to gather support (just like they do here, but they are just being shut down here). Perhaps living inside a little cult of what was the standard 30 years ago is not the best possible choice, but if that's the owners' choice it's perfectly respectable, it's not my site.

@Ombra The argument in your first sentence is indeed a good comparison. The problem is that it doesn't really apply to Danbooru standards. Mind you, the ToS gives an example where grotesque proportions can be found. Breasts that are three times larger than the head. Such things are only found under the gigantic breasts tag.
The second paragraph is rather weak. Nude filter do also accumulate high scores. However, nude filters are nearly hard-banned on Danbooru. There are really only a few exceptions that stay, but it isn't the normal state. And of course it is popular. Most people are using Danbooru because there is a huge database of nude anime art or similar stuff. Of course it will get a high favorite count (not necessarily score). Both favorites and score are completely irrelevant when we judge an image. Otherwise we would have to delete nearly every image under the male focus tag because that stuff is just not viwed often on Danbooru.
But what will we achieve if we look at the flagger's performance who flagged this image? In case of the artist robutts it is mostly only one approver that saves the images once. In case of reflag the image will most likely get deleted. I dare to say that not the flagger should be given advice but more the approver. As far as I know there is even talk between @Akaineko and another Approver that isn't me.
What trends are we talking about?
Well, that'd be all from me (again). But I'm sure the same conversation will be held anytime soon on another flagged robutts post.

Four thousand posts (and counting) where the Tumblr source has disappeared, with no way to see it again (through original links). And Tumblr sites are notorious for disappearing without warning. Danbooru, as a repository, has a value in keeping art alive.

Then to fans of this artist, I say to take a third option and save everything to their hard drive. You never know when someone on danbooru decides they don't want robutts on this site anymore, so they mass delete everything. Alternatively, robutts just decides one day he doesn't want publicity through here, so he requests that all his art gets removed.

That's pretty unfeasible & doesn't help the cause of Danbooru at all.

Meh, I really doubt that Robutts will ever be gone completely. Some stuff is still acceptable, but just like every stuff that has exaggerated proportions it sould be held to higher scrutiny.

Not that I find this one too terrible myself, but there's a reason Danbooru has a quality standard. We're not here to be the Wayback Machine and upload the entire Internet for archival, we're supposed to be only archiving the good stuff, and the whole reason people flag something is because they think it's not very good, and hence not worth archiving.
There's also the visibility problem. The more you archive, the harder it is to find anything, so the more that quality standards start to matter, since the whole reason people don't want to just hit random images on Pixiv or DeviantArt is that they're going to have to spend an hour or so finding an artist that isn't doing "my first doodle" level quality.
I don't think the problem with Robutts' art is necessarily that he draws overly wide hips. That on its own shouldn't be that much of an issue. The issue is that he draws in a very Western comic-esque style, which isn't always fitting for this booru, and frequently makes fundamental anatomy errors that lend an uncanny valley quality to his illustrations (though like others have said, this post in particular isn't that bad). It's not just on this website that people find his art polarizing, he gets both lots of notes on Tumblr and lots of people chiding his style.
Danbooru also hasn't deleted an entire artist's gallery for quality reasons in years. The last time it happened, all of their art was quickly restored and the user who carried out the deletion was chastised. Everything has to go through the moderation queue now.
The frustration is when a post goes through the moderation queue again... and again... AND AGAIN.
What should I say? It is pretty frustrating to evaluate a post again...and again... AND AGAIN because there's always one Approver that re-approved the post but will get eventually deleted. It's pretty much a draw then.
