So I should bring Yamato to gun her down? Just like in real life?
Only if you bring White Plains as well...that's the ship Yamato "mission killed" from approximately 19 miles away. It wasn't a "hit" but it did cripple that escort carrier. She survived and stayed in service, but the damage took her from the front lines for the rest of the war...she was never completely repaired from that one "not a hit" from Yamato.
I'm now imagining her getting "rescued" by the Kurita fleet in the usual Kancolle manner, going to full brown alert, and then continuing to attack them despite no longer being an Abyssal.
so you get turned north by a torp volley and do nothing at all in the battle?
Tone sunk Gambler Bay.
At the time, Yamato was still in the battle, and had a better firing angle than Chikuma. History commonly credits Chikuma, but there are photos that show Yamato clearly pummeling Gambier Bay.

Inb4 Yamato bullies Gambier but Chikuma pushes her away at the last second to have Gambier to herself.
