Art Nouveau Slave Leia
Limited Print for Star Wars Celebrations 4.
This one was a lot of work, but something I always wanted to do. I love Art Nouveau, I love the poster art of Alphonse Mucha, and my DNA has "Star Wars" written on it.
One of the MAIN reasons I did this, however, was timing. C4 was the big 30th anniversary convention for SW, and I guessed that a lotof the other invited artists would do Episode 4 prints, especially the very popular "Big Head Montage". I wanted to steer as far clear of that as possible, then.
I also came home with leftover Han Solo prints I did for C3 the year before, and I learned my lesson. I promised myself: "If this happens again, I'm gonna do chicks or stormtroopers". Slave Leia is one of the major signposts of the cultural landscape that is the affect of Star Wars on popular culture, so..... there you go.
This is one of the few pieces of mine that I have framed and hanging in my home. We got the most ostentatious Victorian-era framejob I could find, and it looks like a real antique!
