Oh god I remember doing this as a kid >< lol. I'd even try to make the jump if there was a broken line ^^
egnirys69
Wait. What? Someone wanna explain whats going on?
finalagent
I used to play this as a kid too, good times.
Kayako
She's playing a game, trying to stay on the white line.

I'd play this one when walking, and when in a car I'd look out the side windows and pretend I was running... hmmm. hard to explain... running flipped 90 degrees. So the telephone poles and stuff would be horizontal to the Running Me. Anyway, I'd have to jump over stuff like those and signs and whatnot.
Actually, come to think of it my parents would often say I was the silent, constantly thinking type. I wonder what they'd think if they found out I was just playing videogames in my head because gameboy wasn't invented yet.
MD Anonymous
huh.
I used to do that exact same thing, and was thought of the exact same way.

Heh, I've thought of something running along, rather stylized, typically myself or me and an imaginary opponent in animu-esque battle. Ah, the jumping and/or flying/gliding along, shifting between 'fore' and 'back'grounds as signs were flipped around, trees were bounded through (might explain Naruto's obsession with it...), and houses and car were hopped along.
Oh, who here's familiar with the carpet (or other floor material/distinctions) being lava?
TristaK
FFFF. My childhood right here. And I am very familiar with that. You could make safe spots with pillows, but you'd have to consistently jump off them so they wouldn't melt and stuff. I loved those days.

I keep finding little things like this, that I used to/still do and think I'm the only one. It always surprises me. XD
Nightmare
i used to think Sonic the Hedgehog was running beside the car while my father was driving. good times...
pjdesum
I still do this.
Panik
Ahh, I remember doing this.
Childhood is bliss.
Lol101
And so do I.
LordAnubis
Everyone pretended they were running alongside the car. Heck, I do that now if I'm not the one driving.
XTragicXBeautyX
I remember whenever I this happened to me I would literally stand at that spot trying to figure a way to get to the other side... Man the memories

Wow, I thought I was the only one. Glad that I'm not.
AlephFish
I did this a lot in stores or malls alternating colored squares on the floor. Certain colors were lava, and I could only step on the safe squares.
I still do this, minus the magma.
Ephram
I also did that with the alternating squares. The thing I loved the most was hiding between the clothes circular racks, almost everyone did it at least once.

Oh jeez, yes. It was like a little cave. For the home version, if you have a short table in the living room, you could take the couch cushions and form a little cave, with the couch pillows blocking the entrances/exits.
*theoretically goes to walk along tiles with my feet diagonally centered on each one*
ftahgn
Wish I could still do that. Damn me getting older and bigger -- used to make elaborate tunnels using every pillow around the house and boxes.
And it was the most awesome thing in the world.
keyblader85
Something like that. Whenever I was on the school bus, I'd imagine Mario was running or flying alongside.

OH GOD.
I used to pretend my fingers were dodging all the objects and everything beside the car. Did the sound effects and everything.
Night of Tatari
Same here. Except instead of me, I made up a trio of robots who were under 2' tall, and they rode hoverboards like in Back to the Future, ramping off of roofs and riding along fence rails, etc.
Twenty years later I still sometimes do this if someone else drives.

On a line??? As a child, I walked on curbs, much more painful if you fall off or step off the wrong side. You need ninja balance for that! :D
pokerfaced
Line running was great! it was even better with friends, then we would re-enact epic scenes from movies when we hit big gaps and yelled things like "C'mon jump! There's no time! Hurry!" and "I'm not going to make it! Go on without me!"

I wasn't the only one! I miss my childhood.
