Something in this picture tells a story that is both sad and happy at the same time.
Look at the posters on the wall: it has both Ash and Pikachu on it. The best explanation other than someone Roto-camera'd them and put the picture on the wall is that in this version of Pokemon world, Ash and Pikachu does not really exist, i.e. just imaginational character...but Pokemon itself exist. The girl who wanted a Pikachu and Mimikyu that wanted to be a Pikachu met...and this happened.

It's also possible that she just plain lost to Mimikyu. It's pushed by a desire to be loved the way that Pikachu is loved, so if it wins against a trainer, it could just grab the trainer and force him/her to be with Mimikyu FOREVER!
My guess is "The Mimikyu who wanted to be loved like Pikachu + the girl who wanted a anime series", and I support that. Make a anime with Mizuki as protagonist~!

I do actually think that Ash actually exists... BUT, is not the ash we know and loved (the anime one), but rather... the ash from the movies timeline (movie 20, 21 and 23), the ash that is trying to follow his own destiny, his own story. That’s why he only has his pikachu (he also has a charizard, but since we didn’t see it in the 21st movie, my guess is that he released it before the events of it... also, this ash doesn’t appear to capture Pokémon for his team, unless he captures them offscreen or something else... but, if the ash from that the movie DOES (or probably DID) exists there... how would be his female variant of him? (Since, Every pokemon protagonist has a female or male counterpart...)
