@CodeKyuubi what did you do to actually fetch the original image, or is there some other method you use to get it? Not having a howto:weibo to refer to I have no idea how to treat this source. Thanks.

If weibo caches the original image, I don't yet know how to access it (woriginal is like large, just far more heavily compressed). This was indeed upscaled, as in comparison to the other similar touhou posts the two posts were about 30-40% smaller. The purpose of the upscale was to bring the resolution of the images in line with its counterparts, as users cannot fully enjoy images that are too small.
Here, the images were upscaled, cleaned, and, where the algorithm did not work well, the parts in question were smoothed in PS.
I don't care if someone flags the image, but to say the act of upscaling is pointless is a wrong sentiment. The point of upscaling is to make a small image appreciable. In this case, I chose to upscale in consideration for people that would group these images with the others in the set, so that discrepancies between them would be minimized, while also linking the original (That we know of so far, if :orig and raw reveals are any indication) in the source for those who desired it. All that I do, I do to enrich the common user.
Regardless, do with it what you will. However, if the flagger believes upscales in general are reprehensible, then I suggest they move to flag other non-first-party images accordingly. In my opinion, DB is as much an imageboard as it is a database, and upscales and 'shops have a place on this site within reason, and shouldn't be detested just because it isn't the "original."

I don't think there should be any firm prohibition against edits. Obviously we accept certain decensors if done at a high enough quality, so I think some leniency for crops and resizing is okay. I'd however upload the original first, then child the resized post to that original. Perhaps even there should be a tag similar to photoshop for user-resized images. Another principle function of Danbooru is to be an archival site, not simply an image board. Both functions are pretty important.
Suppose for instance that the artist removes their post from the internet. If only your version is uploaded we will not be capable of going back to see what the bonafide original is, nor could another user create their own resized version, perhaps correcting errors you could have made. I know you take certain liberties related to the composition of images to enhance how they are viewed. This doesn't particularly bother me; not having the original versions on the site however does.
