Final Fantasy and Jojo pt 6
Part 6 is weird, but that's what the fun is all about in it. From Mickey Mouse and Mazinger Z to rhinoceros beetles and sexy plancton. But in the end it's all about religion... or something. After the success of Final Fantasy 7, there was another game intended to be Final Fantasy, but that also got too weird for Square to take the risk and they made it its own thing. That game was Xenogears.
Heavy on religious themes and heavy on martial arts giant mechs fighting, it was too ambitions for its own good, but even if the game had to be rushed at points (and it's VERY noticeable where that happens), the mythos and storyline remain a complex, intriguing, philosophical nightmare and one of my favorite RPGs.
The team behind Xenogears split from Square and then sort of attempted to do it again in Xenosaga, intended to be billion entries, was cut short into just 3. I played the first game and so sleek and boring, but has some interesting bits. Now what's left of the original team continue on with the Xenoblade Chronicles, which has only been released on Nintendo consoles, of which I don't own any of them, but if you want to give me one, my birthday is coming up next month!
