Nah, I'd rather sacrifice my units to Veronica to lower her HP so I could done her map faster, because speed point multiplier for tempest trials is higher than survival. It's not like they permanently died anyway.

The multiplier goes down by 0.1 per grade, so the actual number of points (53 in the highest tier) you lose per drop of rank is the same.
Also, I'm not sure how much that really helps, since dropping 20% HP on a unit already at 150% HP and with what seems like a +15% all other stat boost isn't going to significantly tilt things your way. I honestly just surrender and restart if my first team bites it, since, with stamina potions, the only real determinant of your score is your own patience, not combat ability, and so why bother playing with a half-baked second-string team when you can stick to your A-team (plus Tharja) at all times?
So far as my team goes, only Tharja's going to be like this (which is probably a bad thing, as she's probably quintuple-death-cursing my summoner at this point...) since you get full survival points so long as you clear the final map with even one of your units still alive, and Tharja's the designated bonus point sandbag I can sac without losing combat efficiency from my blitzkrieg horse team.
Incidentally, so far, the Tempest is responsible for Cecilia gaining over 4000 SP, and Olwen over 3000 SP. By the end of this, I might even see if there's a SP cap at 9999.
Grind what? You slam face-first into level cap in a day, and everything else you can do to power up characters takes either orbs or feathers, which you can't grind.
Unless you mean grinding the tempest, itself, but that's basically what the characters are complaining about, here.

You start with a 1 star. Raise it to 40, unlock potential. Repeat until 5 star. You in the mean time gather as many "tutors" as you can and have them learn the optimal traits.

You only need to get to level 20 to unlock potential. Also, you only get a tiny number of 1*s, with nearly all your units being 3* or 4*, and you run out of feathers far too quickly to train anything more than a small number of core units to 5*
I generally only bother to train 2-3 units per month (I'll just use shards to level up scrap characters for inheritence) and again, that takes a couple days, at most. The rest of the month, it's just whatever new events there are, and stamina to spare.
Woohoo! Finally! 100k score! I'm actually rank 5560 right now, so I could make another 2k feathers pushing just a few thousand points further, but screw playing this set of missions even more than I already have.
I hope they don't try to make this a regular thing, because I'll burn out on Fire Emblem Heroes VERY quickly if I have to do this again in a month or two.
... And now to try to figure out how to beat that bullshit cheating Legion map...
EDIT: OK, beat Legion's lunatic mode, and didn't bother with Diabolic. (The secret was to just bench Olwen for Olivia.) I went back and did a few more Tempest rounds and got to something like rank 4,590, so I got my 2k feathers that way.
