Prop sword could kill just fine, if not even better than a handbag. Even with less mass, a thin point could focus the damage better than a blunt object with large surface area, breaking bones and severing flesh.
The prop sword is clearly plastic though, considering how everyone carry the sword while it's still stuck in the (also presumably) plastic stone just fine, combined with the sound it made when pulled from the plastic stone.
It's not a movie grade prop, just a very cheap kid's toy variation sword.
