Self-posting itself isn't against the rules, it's just recommended not to do because the person who makes something almost always values it more than anybody else and thus are more blind to lack of quality.

Wow. This is the first time I have seen a moderator actually state that self posting is not against the rules. I feel like this is one of those slippery slopes though. Personally, I like the idea that people post to other sites like pixiv first and then if they get popular or otherwise noticed by users here then it is posted. Kind of like a minimum of two person approval vetting process.
Although I agree that if someone does post their own work, it shouldn't just be deleted just because. In this case though, this really isn't danbooru quality. Way better than I can do, but compared to the stuff on here, pretty low quality.
But then again, I'm just a free user pleb who doesn't even upload so...
Well, like I said, self-posting itself isn't against the rules, but it can lead to other things. That is, a reduced upload limit as things get deleted or in extreme "spam-level" conditions a warning and eventual ban.
Basically it boils down to looking at it from the opposite side; if art is self-posted but of exceptionally high quality, just because it's self-posted doesn't mean it will be deleted. Self-posted images that are not of exceptionally high quality will probably be shit on.
