Dr._Fine_Rolo do you even know what you're talking about?? what missing ear... if you have Dumbo the elephant ears that dose not mean that everyone has to have deformed ears -.- and as for the deformed fingers... it's just 2 fingers, asymmetric face... let me let you in to biology, no one human has a symmetric face.... well Michael Jackson has it but look at him... the lighting I agree with but it's still a well done drawing.
The face isn't assymetrical, either. She's just not "facing the camera," so to speak. Which is also why you only see one ear. The fingers look ok, too. The only argument that stands is inconsistent lighting, but I feel that it works well in this piece.
i can't say i like this piece, but it certainly isn't a bad drawing, and i've seen much worst than this. the artist suceeds in giving the piece a shady dark tone and excels best in rendering hair, although the anatomy and light sources are inconsistant. yes, in reality no human being is perfectly symmetrical, but this is anime, and anime glorifies the human form, where a level of perfection is possible. this piece does not achieve that, although it is still a worthy piece.
divStar: dudes you make me sick lol ... that's a level I bet noone of us geeks can achieve easily.. and then you talk about missing ears and micheal jackson ... I really feel sorry for the author. It is an awesome pick that shouldn't end up on sites like this one or 4chan... more like on sites like deviantart. Cause the critique there is more "intelligent" >_>
a level that nonone of us can achieve? not really. most only say it has a missing ear because the artist renders her eyes and other facial features as if she was facing forward, but this is problematic because her head is facing a 3/4 perspective. the left eye should be foreshortened and smaller in comparrision to the right eye. but it is not, thus it looks weird for those who can understand it's flaws. i doubt deviantart would be anybetter for this piece either, DA is nothing more than a wannabe artists version of myspace.
Guys, perspective and anatomy problems are one thing, but look at the godawful colors in this picture. Kanaria's cheerful yellow-orange tones are smothered in a sickly green-gray mess that permeates everything, even her skin. It's the right palette for an image of rotting meat, not so much for a cute girl.
There's other problems, too, like her stringy old-woman hair and the weird highlights along the bottom of her face. Is she standing on a floodlight?
