I really don't like Asgore. I hate his half-assed approach to what he does. But ... Maybe I didn't know exactly how conflicted he is. This sort of makes me see it a bit clearer.
I admire Asgore. He's the man which does what needs to be done. At least what HE thinks has to be done. Even if he really, really doesn't like it. Ey, cut guy some slack. He ccouldn't even ask anyone about this, if he's doing right thing. But yea, he basically done the best thing he could, I think.
Because Toriel just run away from obligations and tried to be swell, good mummy. Just dumped him like that.
When you remember that Asgore has an entire kingdom of monsters to look after too, his decision makes more sense. It certainly wasn't the best decision, but what other options did he have to keep the monsters hopeful?
