That's a lot of flagging... Nearly everything with the bad_anatomy, bad_proportions or poorly_drawn tags and thousands posts without them that I feel qualify as "grossly unrealistic". If I went around just flagging the tens of thousands of images that are noticeably worse than this in an anatomical or artistic sense, but got approved anyway, I'd simply get banned for being disruptive... Admittedly that's without taking my own taste into account, since I personally like a good chunk of the images that are "worse than this" and wouldn't want to flag them.

That's an assumption, and hasn't proven to be true in the past. Within the last few months we had a user that was flagging multiple posts per day; with how the mod queue works, it isn't particularly disruptive. Especially for a regular member, who can only flag one post per day.
It's just a trait of how the approval system works; it only takes one of the approvers clicking the button to approve a post to the site. If they miss something, if they're drunk that day, whatever the case, it's not this "ultimate holy insult that results in a huge stack of paperwork" to flag an image like people seem to think it is.
