Makes me curious of how the devs will implement the Allied ships.
Most of the IJN ships' 'glory moments' came from the times they were hopelessly outclassed and crushed but to say that those were also the glory moments of the side that did the crushing would be a bit odd to say the least.

The First Naval Battle of Guadalcanal was once rather aptly summed up by someone who was there as "a barroom brawl with the lights shot out". The incident between USS Atlanta and Akatsuki depicted in this post was just one of many crazy incidents that occurred that night.
Perhaps the craziest one that I know of was the point-blank-range (specifically, less than 100 yards) machine gun duel that occurred between USS Laffey (DD-459) and Hiei (you know the situation's gone out of control when the captain of a destroyer is discharging his sidearm at a battleship!).
Just looked into what happened at that naval battle. Turns out, Helena was one of the few American ships there equipped with Search Radar and, as such, had a very clear picture of what was going on. In fact, she had already served at the Battle of Cape Esperance with such good results that the Admiral in charge their swore that the next time he went into battle, he would make Helena his flagship. Unfortunately, high command put another guy who didn't learn to respect Search Radar in charge in this one leading to another incident where a radar-less ship hoisted the flag. To make things worse, the Admiral in charge of the Cape Esperance battle was on board the Atlanta during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.

The lights also have a very limited range in terms of being able to illuminate the target due to scattering, but are visible on the ship using them from a much greater distance.
