To be fair for Tenryuu though, she's a very potent DD thug (the Cleveland has the potential to evaporate destroyers but its limited so hard and it can't chase them down like Tenryuu can) and it won't be surprising if in competitive play someone's going to be bound to field a Tenryuu just to hunt down DD's.
As for Hiei being there, there comes as a notion that Kongou in-game when she gets reformatted is a facemelt between the lead ship and Hiei.
Speaking of which, when Tokyo Game Show comes... let us hope the brofist of World of Warships x Arpeggio x Kantai Collection fully happens after this since I hear that there's a sizable number of Japanese players fielding their own navy and are quite potent with em. I'd really want an official Arpeggio Kongo VP and a KanColle Kongo VP hollering "enemy severely damaged!" and a new kill announce for "we've sunk an enemy battleship!"

Ahahaha Japanese Destroyers are all about stealth torpedoes and long range strikes. I for one have the tier V minekaze, and have unlocked mutsuki... but... her 6km range..... for torps... anyways I also tried the american DD. Currently with the tier IV clemson. And man that is one DD destroyer. In one game I sunk 4 with her. Out of 5 of the enemy DDs. SO bascially. Murica = firepower. Japan = Torpedoes

Is this before or after a rain of dozens of six inch shells from the St Louis riddle her massive and effectively unprotected Citadel? A Wyoming basically disintegrates her with one broadside of a dozen 12 inch guns? Or Hosho catches her in a web of TBs and breaks her in half 2 minutes into the game as she's rushing forward to try and get within her awful gun range?
Honestly Clemson could probably take Tennryu in a gun fight barring some lucky hits by the later. Tennryu has good torps for tier, but that's about the extent of good things about her.

Clemson is the high point of that line until T8 when it becomes 'okay' again and T9 when it's actually arguably better then the Japanese. Everything from 5 to 7 is basically useless for anything besides bullying other DDs though, nothing else is really afraid of US DDs due to the lack of stealth torping.

Kawachi is really awful, terrible short range. Furutaka is another ship difficult to play, but Aoba is better.

Apparently south carolina is not much better. Kawachii for one has higher SIP and armour. Although her gun placings are bad but they still do pack a punch. Especially at close ranges. Currently stuck with the furutaka too ahaha. The slow reload time is like meh. Also the poor AA stats.
But if you want that Yamato,you still need to go through Kawachi,no exceptions

Which is why you bunch up with the few destroyers you have. Tenryuu's about hit and run, drive by most specific against that. Its the same way I used the Iwaki Alpha with.

South Carol is annoying, she can be easily be outrange by a Tier 4 Cruiser and easily pick off by any Destroyer thanks to it's poor reload...
It's probably to provide balance because their shells are much more powerful than the shells of cruisers and destroyers.

I did however, survive until the last 3 minutes of the battle just slowly capturing the flags and staying out of range - ie. close to shorelines of the islands but enough not to collide with them - but the last person on the team was AFK.
Not to mention my bad timing with torps and people reversing onto them. I'm banning myself from using torps unless I get up close and personal.

Don't have to just fire a single narrow spread center, then wide spread half in the targeting area to the left and right, guaranteed to get at least one hit. Unless the guy turns right after u fire or something. Spreads of torpedos are great. Sunk a destroyer by firing a spread Into "empty sea"
Also, did anyone notice that that hibiki has crazy range? Scoring hits from quite far away?

This is... SO not the case. Seriously when you average it out a BB normally gets about 1000 to 1500 damage per shell over the long term. 2k per hit is an exceptional game, cruiser spamming HE can inflict that level or even two or three times that level of damage in one salvo at least twice as fast, and the damage is consistent and if you aim correctly most of the shells will hit. It's dead easy for me to plaster a BB for 4-6k damage per salvo in my Atago often with 60 to 70% of shells hitting even at near max range.
In a BB meanwhile for every one salvo that inflicts some monster hit for 15 to 20k damage there are a dozen others that do basically nothing as BB shells scatter and miss even at stupidly close range, are magically absorbed by turrets or AA guns for zero damage, or somehow 'over-penetrate' the entire hull of a cruiser cause the materiel needed to fuze the shell is 2 or 3 times historic values. BB damage is not skill based like cruisers, CV, or DD there is so much RNG involved that at a range beyond perhaps 5 to 6 kilometer there is no real aiming involved at all, the spread is so massive all you can do is aim center of mass and hope for the best on your scatter dice.
Even when you do get a true 'hit' the damage values are lies, the listed value is ONLY for a citadel hit. A normal 'hit' that's not in the citadel does only 33% listed damage. So the MAX possible damage for 14 inch guns is like 3,300 and for sixteen it's like 4,300 (also showing why trading say four barrels for 16 inch guns isn't even CLOSE to worth it in the current meta). HE shells are no help either, due to the way HE works BB caliber HE often hits for barely anymore damage then 8 inch HE, but the cruiser can easily land half a dozen hits a salvo at distance while the BB would be extremely lucky to land 2 or 3 and the cruiser fires twice as fast. So in effect the cruiser is probably scoring four to six times as many HE hits in a given period.
Honestly the complete mess that is battleship gunnery is one the most critcal problems with the game at the moment it's not skil based, it's not fun, and it's annoying to user AND victim. It pisses off the BB player most of the time because it's so wildly inconsistent and so often does nothing, while it pisses off other players too because the times it does happen to work it has a habit of instantly smacking off like 80% of their HP in one random salvo. A far better solution IMO would be simply remove the monster 10000+ damage citadel hits and give the ships a consistent damage of say 2,000 or so per hit, with a citadel doing maybe 4k. Basically remove the reliance on lucky monster hits and make it more about consistent damage via good aimming without the constant salvos that do basically zero damage.
Seems like the Arty complains on WoT, but i have you granted that the Arkansas B even though has terrible aiming its quite fun to drive and with the aiming upgrade (expensive) it becomes far more bearable, but i agree most part of the RNG, missing at 3KM with the South carolina is quite bullshitty

That's why we have update 4.1! And ryujou now op with 3/1/1 load out. I actually rekt American carriers of similar tier in the skies for once instead of constantly running away or getting rekt

for the cost of totally useless on engaging surface ships and if get caught by Independence's fighter ability, they will totally get rekt so damn bad that it doesn't matter if it's 3 squadron or 6

Never happened to me before, and we'll it's useful when you get matched up against tier 8 or tier 7, because you don't have to take server loses of bomber aircraft attempting to attack enemy ships but maintain air superiority. It's somewhat easier yeah .
