Hmm... I am quite the fan of the Sekirei manga. However, I am more worried than I am looking forward to this. Several things are to be considered:
1. Will the plot differ from the manga? 2. If the plot does differ from the manga, will it still be awesome? 3. Will there be filler? 4. Will the detail on the characters be lessened? 5. Will the breast sizes of the characters be toned down for a public audience? 6. Will the nudity (and thus the romantic situations) be removed or altered in some way? 7. Will the voice cast be well suited for each character? 8. Will the anime retain the same adorable character designs that the manga had?
I say number eight because one of the things that drew me to Sekirei was the soft, gentle, cute nature of the art work. I am gay, so the breasts do nothing for me. I just do hope that the anime sticks true to the manga.
I mean, look at Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece. They are three of the most popular anime in existence, and the anime versions stick very close to the manga (albeit adding filler). Other anime should take this as an example (I am looking at you, Tokyo Mew Mew).
For example, I do pray for the upcoming anime of 666 Satan. I suspect mass edits on the horizon for that one...
well judging from the picture looks like the breast sizes have been toned down a bit so i guess that answers number 5 in a way. but i wonder about questions 1-3, Sekirei no matter how you put it or love the story it's still a harem series (even though the protagonist has actually gone past kissing them at least once). so it makes you wonder how are tehy gonna handle the sroy telling, Rosario + Vampire didn't stay on track one bit and the same could be said for To-Love-Ru with it's skipping. but i R+V is a better example so i'll stick with that. anyone worried that this could go the same tragic route R+V did with it's manga-anime conversion?
Hopefully they'll leave the nudity in, but only but bars or something in the way for the TV broadcast. That way we can have all the nudity for the DVD release. As far as voice actors, they may just use the ones from the Drama CD. Sahashi Minato voiced by Tachibana Shinnosuke, Musubi by Kawasumi Ayako, Kusano by Tamura Yukari, Tsukiumi by Tanaka Rie (YAY!), Matsu by Matsuoka Yuki, and hopefully (crosses fingers) Kazehana will be voiced by Inoue Kikuko.
LaC said: I've never heard of this series. What is it about? Apart from harems.
well it's sort of like pokemon on instead of catching little animals the protagonist is catching women sort of. there's at least 108 of them too, the story is that it's for some big event that some major corporation made. and the Sekirei are used for it and i think there was some sort of prize granted at the end for it but i don't remember for sure. but so far it's not a bad read if you know how to handle it, since you can't really take it over seriously and it's not to bad that you'd have to ignore it or put it down.
Luckily the little girl (blast, I forgot her name...) is colored how I pictured her. But I think Musubi looked better when I imagined her with black hair. Though shame on them for toning down the breast size. I know it makes the anime more respectable (as in "anti-Eiken"), but the breast sizes were a central part of the series. Again, I am gay, so I am a non-biased party on the breast sizes.
