Well Aoba, his results such as turning destroyers into incredibly deadly omnicidal killers at a snap of a finger as well as his luck speak for themselves, even if the Admiralty argues about it. This should also have him be allocated with a bit more resources since he now has a couple of res burners, two of them at the moment is Nagato and Kaga, to ease Inazuma's consternation.
I'm a bit relieved that he did not get Furutaka else we'll have another Randall but instead of the pale blue light, we'll see a pale yellow glow from the distance and with a lone shipgirl slowly heading towards the enemy while repeatedly chanting "ko-ro-se" after he's done with her.
Man, I thought captain as in equivalent to army's captain, not to its colonel and was surprised how he jumped so many ranks.
Going by wikipedia, there was no rank of OF-6 in the IJN, it went straight from 大佐 to 少将. I just automatically assume that Kancolle works are using IJN ranks, not JMSDF/USN ranks.

I want to see this wholeheartedly. Actually, I wonder why no one has even thought about that crossover.
Now I'm sad because I loved Pumpkin Scissors but they will never get a second season and the manga translations are in limbo...

Well, it's normal to go from 大佐 to 少将. Because they are technically Colonel and Brigadier General(?). The rank Captain, as I know is 大尉. The word 艦長 in Japanese is used to address the captain commanding a ship, not military rank. And this is exactly how military ranks are in Vietnam too so I just mistook it. Not that I'm saying there's a problem with translation here.

Well, he was. But as I saw "captain", I forgot all about it.

The army rank Captain is 大尉 (OF-2). The naval rank Captain, however is a 大佐 (OF-5).
少将 is either a Major General (Army) or Rear Admiral (Navy), both OF-7. Brigadier General (Army) would be OF-6; same goes for Commodore (Navy). This rank is missing in the IJA/IJN and JSDF/JMSDF.
The Japanese translation of Brigadier General and Commodore usually use 准將 for OF-6. Splitting up 少將 into 一級少將 (OF-7) and 二級少將 (OF-6) is another alternative.
Moral of the story: Sinic soldier ranks are consistent; Western ones are not.

AH, right. I jumped from the highest under General rank to lowest General rank I know in English without paying attention there. As I know, we in both Japan and Vietnam just go from an army Colonel straight up to Major General in rank and have only 4 General ranks. That would mean we go from that of OF-5 to OF-7, skipping OF-6 which would be Brigadier General or Commodore.
But I do know army rank "captain" is captain (OF-2) while naval one is equivalent to army's colonel (OF-5). Thing is, the rank 大尉 exist in both IJA/IJN as well as it goes for Vietnamese People's Army and they are all OF-2.
What I meant to say was there was a difference in how you use an army "captain" rank and naval "captain" rank that got me confused a little because I forgot the fact.
After blasting through the Kis Islands, we, the Yokosuka Naval Base's steady advance cannot be stopped! We can say at last...
Inazuma's stomach finally reached it's limit.Even though it seems that HQ's personnel department disputed it, he's been promoted from Captain to Rear-admiral! Man, that doesn't suit him, does it!
OF-5 to OF-7And then, due to the sudden waste of resources, the Naval Base's tiny Mama-san secret boss, Inazuma, was downed.DEESU!Further, the Curry Sea Pacification's drop was the base's first ever Light Carrier - Ryuujou-san,In the Western Ocean Area's Curry Sea Pacification too, Kongou-san crushed the Enemy flagship - breaking through wonderfully! With the breaking through of the Curry Sea continuing from the Kis Islands, the Commander has also been incredibly promoted! And earlier (with some quibbles being voiced by our quartermaster), through Battleship Force reinforcement construction, we now have Nagato-san and Haruna-san freshly deployed!
