Frankly, I've never understood why anyone would want to get married, anyway. If you do love each other, then that's great and love doesn't need any goofy rituals. If you don't love each other like you (maybe) used to, then being married will only make things worse. If civilization does collapse, it will be because far too many people insist on making crude, rigid rules and procedures for everything. If they could only realize that the real answers depend, they depend on all sorts of things in any given situation, then we'd already have warp drives.
Edit: I can sympathize with the idea of a wedding as a celebration of love and understand marriage as a practical arrangement (for child rearing, financial matters, etc.). It's the notion that marriage in itself makes love more complete or permanent I find harmfully irrational.
