It's both heart breaking and badass for me.. Anyone else feels the same?
Yeah. It's badass as she want to sortie and her loyalty to Japan are not to be questioned. But, at the same time, she was not be allowed to be sortie and that's one that make it sad. Of course in the end, it become more sad, if you know the event.
[Just my Personal Opinion Though] actually, if you think twice, Nagato are should be considered as the Pride of IJN, she's participate in most of major battle of Pacific War, not only her Achievement are top notch, she's a member of BIG 7 and happens to save the people of Japan when the Kanto Earthquake are happening(if i'm not mistaken, i'm just remember she's bringing supplies for the great earthquake) While Yamato is indeed are a Capital Ships and considered as the Treasure of Empire of Japan, she's rarely participate on the major battle of WW2. if can be comparable, Nagato are a strong ship that can match Yamato Power, if you remember the Crossroad Operation, she's one of a Tough Ships that need to be Bombed Twice to be Sunk.
...if you remember the Crossroad Operation, she's one of a Tough Ships that need to be Bombed Twice to be Sunk.
Technically, she didn't even sink from the nukes. She sprung a leak after Operation Baker (from an old shoddy repair work, at that) but the repair crew refused to work on her due to her being too radioactive(radioactive fallout tends to do that). So she was left to take in water before capsizing five days later.
Though, in hindsight, Operation Crossroads made a lot of big flashy show, but didn't really do enough damage worth its firepower. Even the USS Nevada was still floating afterwards and ended her life being used for target practice.
I'm fairly certain at this point that that information, and most other "ooh-aah" information from the same user, wasn't worth the paper it wasn't printed on. Too many gaping holes in too many stories with too many conveniently unverifiable sources.

Attempts to make her seaworthy has been abandoned. As a result, her funnel has been removed from her body. Thank goodness. Nagato? Why am I stuck here?Nagato did not sortie.
This concludes Nagato's last action before the announcement of Japan's surrender on August 15, 1945; and before the US Navy secured Nagato on August 30, 1945.
