Fusou has that huge tower Tone has the half-and-half design
But what about the Takao class ?
There super structure really does look like nothing else afloat at the time. Even ignoring it's hugeness for a cruiser the sloping, geometric look of it was quite unusual somewhat reminding me off...

well, IMO they kinda look similar with the modern Arleigh Burke class destroyer
This, the resemblance is admittedly somewhat vague, but the profile is not entirely dissimilar particularly from the frontquarter.
That said the problem was rather rarely IDing a ship that was a thousand yards away and could be clearly seen (although shockingly bad identifications of this type did occur most often involving aircraft. The case of RN Swordfish launching 11(!) torpedoes at a RN light cruiser they mistook for Bismark coming to mind). The real problems came in when it was a smudge 20 kilometers away, or obscured behind smoke, or weather, or darkness.

To add to that, the Akizuki-class that's finally going to be included in-game soon were often confused for Yuubari by allied sailors and airmen during the war.
Well, at least try to remember from ships who have special featuresCharm PointOh, in the design, each legs only gets half. So if you add them up it’s fourThose who have the Ship Girl Design Collection book can confirm thisReference: Japan Navy Ship Photo Collection
Sendai in December Showa 16Is it alright for destroyer to say such thing ?But if you have four on each legs, wouldn’t that mean you have eight…Such as Fusou, Tone, or TakaoWarships are difficult to identify aren’t they ?Isn't it cute!Naka-chan and the Sendai-class are also one of the easy to identify ships!Even as ship girl, this special feature is incorporated to the leg design!
just as you would expect from Bob-sanCharm point:
Four funnels
