Well, I haven't really read this, what with no translations, but keep in mind that in Japan, tattoos = Yakuza. Law-abiding citizens in Japan basically NEVER get tattoos. (Foreigners might have them, but they'd be well-advised to hide them.) Hence, the nervousness and how, in shows like Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, having the quiet teacher who is a loner take off his shirt and reveal (to the people spying on him) he's got a dragon tattooed on his back freaks Nozomi out so much.
