The artists' take seems ridiculous to begin with, and this page is probably the brightest example. Have we even seen Homura lose her cool, even in such a situation? Not to mention the fact that she pretty much controls the universeAnd the whole fight with time stops missed the point entirely. If you remember Rebellion such situations called for different tactics, specifically aimed at Homura's ability, relying either on surprise or on ambush.
Later on in the pool tho it gets (maybe) better. The later pages seem to present Homura's role in accordance to the movie, both in her feelings and decision on how to make it stable. What is more, he touches (probably) the idea of human's complexity and different sides making up the same person, which is cool. And Sayaka is being just dumb enough to remind us that she's Sayaka..... Perhaps. Or rather, perhaps they are so ridiculously vague that you can see any kind of interpretation in them

One thing I didn't understand was Homura's EPIC fight with Mami. So has her time stop ability degraded or something to the point where it does not stop other magic users, only non-magic users and inanimate objects? But then in the movie Madoka was also frozen despite being a magical girl. Somehow Mami haxed the parameter in her favor, especially with that BS ribbon manuever to prevent a bullet to the knee.
look at Mami's ribbon as the fight starts. It's attached to Homura's ankle the whole time, from before she leaves the house (hence it's all over town), providing the same results as when Homura holds Kyouko's hand in the original series. And so Homura's maneuver mainly aimed to clear that ribbon. Still it was kind of bullshit that Homura didn't immediately timestop when Mami's clone was cleared. We see her shooting 3 times before it reaches her, you'd think she can reach her shield in that time. And that time stop would be her natural reaction, too
