Not true. Mattari Yufi's Gensokyo high school story is quite excellent. There was also another one, with Marisa as the main protagonist, that was really good.
Just because something is difficult and most fail at doing it doesn't mean it's impossible.

That applies far more to westerners writing stories about it than the japanese making comics about it. Various artists enjoyed nice successes with this, with Ratppatu being one of the names.

It really has more to do with skill then subject after all. If Imizu did a Gensokyo High story it would be the most bad assed ever. Pageratta did one and it was the most comic one ever. Rapattu gave us the most heart warming ever. If the Master ever did one, it would be the best told story ever.
None of which has anything to do with the setting and everything to do with their ability.

Yes. And yet Taisa's one will stay in my heart. The only thing that could kick it out would be a Gensokyo High school story by Imizu.
