Although I like another glasses character to add into the roster.
Its natural that they'd be grouped together considering their likes. Patchouli the The Unmoving Great Library. Satori who loves books because it lets her experience in some why what others who can't read minds feel in their lives (and is also an author herself). And Kosuzu the collector. Akyuu and possibly Keine are natural addition to this group now that that I think about it

Someone from TvTropes said: By reading and writing books, she can experience the same kind of excitement as the people whose minds she reads.
My first impression was that she reads/writes books because it's like reading hearts, full of excitement and new experiences, an adventure. Except books don't hate you for reading them
This artwork pretty much reflects my thoughts when I read Kosuzu's profile for the first time. Touhou Book Club it is! But wait... aren't we forgetting Tokiko? She's a bookworm too.

Just leave it to the Touhou fans. Time will tell how they resolve this dilemma.

It's canon since Symposium of Post-mysticism came out.
Even within the Palace of the Earth Spirits, it looks like Satori doesn't move around much, mostly staying in her room reading and writing books. She especially loves stories with detailed psychological description. It seems that reading and writing books is an exciting experience for a mind-reader. There is a possibility that among books by anonymous authors, some of them were written by her.
