While 180cm really isn't immensely tall in the West, in Japan isn't that pretty tall? From what I remember Japanese are not that tall, right?

On or around the standard heights for urban East Asians. South Koreans are about 3cm taller than the rest of us on average.

180cm isn't even close to tall in the Netherlands. The Dutch went from one of the shortest peoples after WWII to one of the tallest by the end of the century. Anything less than 195cm (190cm for women) and you aren't going to stand out as tall there.
