Is she actually close enough to Yuuka right now to be talking to her directly, I wonder? If so, somebody should throw down a penalty flag and get that girl off the field.
So it's obvious I've got a hard on for the bakatet, but I do have to say that Yuuka sure does look like a shounen lead having a crisis of faith here. That puts Keine in the role of childhood friend who has to snap the hero out of it.
Keine's made her way to the announcer stand: post #1107423 She's got the PA system on her side. Amusingly, the comic I checked out on. Time to apologize for that. m(_ _)m I'm not a stable individual.
You know, I'm starting to feel really badly about being so down on Mystia for calling out like an idiot. If you look closely, she's got tears in her eyes when she does it. If it was part of the plan to call out to keep Yuuka's attention away from the scoreboard, there was no need to be crying... Yuuka can't see. So Mystia went through with her part of the plan even though it terrified her *and* made her look dumb as bricks.
IMO, the reason of why she cant use the master spark is because she lost something on her fight against the protagonist on lotus land story (remenber, no spellcard rule on that time, so the fight were kinda dangerous).
So either she was badly wounded, and thus rendered unable to cast her master spark (which, if you remember, was WAY more powerful than marisa's). This would also explain why she hasn't used her double spark.
Or what I actually believe of what happened (beware, wall of text incoming):
A story of a long long time ago.
Lotus Land Story, Yuuka is sleeping at his manmsion, her servants are taking care of everything while she rest and enjoys her new amusement, the surge of evil spirits and flowers should be a good entertainment.
Suddenly her mansion is attacked by a black magician an a miko, the pair destroy everything in their way, and kill everyone who oppose them. Yuuka servants try to fight the pair, but the army of fairies and low tier yokais dont have any chance of winning. Ultimately yuuka is forced to fight the pair, she bluff strength by saying lines along "genocide is a game" or whatever she can think of her head. She knows she can't win unless she is at her full power and since she was just awakened she cant fight at her fullest.
So, while hiding the pain of having his house destroyed and hers servants killed she try to delay the fight until she can release her powers. After some minutes of fighting she's vastly overpowered she flees, while what remained from her servants delay the mike and the magician. They are wiped easily, but their sacrifice provides time enough for Yuuka to regain her power, and the true fight really began.
And fight they did, but ultimately Yuuka realized that she couldnt keep up with both foes. But she wasnt going to be defeated, If she lost, the sacrifice of her servants would have been wasted and driven by her wish of vengeance she released her strongest attack. That attack wasnt elegant, nor it had any complicated patterns, it was just pure energy fired in a very fast and powerful beam of pure destruction.
And yet the miko and the magician survived, they did the impossible and either escaped from the blast or just canceled it with one of their own magic. But Yuuka didnt gave up. Attack after attack, patter after patter, the combination of the miko and the magician was perfect, and they easily avoided anything that Yuuka threw at them, there is not point in narrating what happened after, Yuuka fought hard, never giving up, but that was what hurt her the most. She was broken, she couldnt even stand, but her heart was wishing to fight, to win, to make the pair pay for destroying her home, to avenge all her servants, and yet she could barely move a finger.
What was the cruelest part, neither the magician nor the miko wanted to kill her, maybe because killing a living being is considered a "bad thing" and they thought of themselves as the "heroes" of the story, or maybe for being plain cruel. But they left her, badly wounded but not enough as to let her die, homeless, with everyone she knew death and with her will to fight broken.
It took time for her to physically recover, but the damage to her spirit, soul, mind or whatever you want to call it cant be healed. Even the thought of firing a master spark, or using her clone technique invokes all the pain and the suffering she went trough, so she blocked them, as the most pure instinct of self preservation.
She spends her days peacefully at the garden of the sun, a place where she lives alone with an infinite number of sunflowers, and most important, a place where she remembers having fought the miko and the magician, but she doesnt remember anything else, or at least she chooses not to
Huge wall text of wall was huge, anyway sorry for any redaction/orthography errors, English inst my native language.
Indeed, but what about Mystic Square? I don't know Yuuka's story in MS. Hold on... Apparently she went to Makai in MS to play... Doesn't really seem like she's recovering from being badly injured (physically and mentally) Then again, she could be hiding it or whatever. She seriously doesn't seem like it though... Also, apparently she started learning magic... Why? Maybe that has something to do with this, I don't know.
Right, I completely forgot about Mystic Square (I started the pc 98 era with mystic square and ended with lotus land story) (disclaimer: Since It has been some time since I played MS, I may have one or two facts wrong)
Ok first of all: Makai in touhou 5, before the last battle: A city of Demons(?) with a pseudo goddess (shinki). During the battle, shinki finally releases her "devil recitation" and we see how that spell left the whole makai in flames, which proves that during that age the spellcards were dangerous and highly damagin
In touhou 12 we never get to go to makai, however, the Hokkai (were you fight byakuren) is "located at the outer edge of the makai" and is shown as a huge wasteland/ plain covered with magic (I dont really know how to describe it) with something that looks like a never ending setting sun (again, I havent played touhou 12 since last year, so maybe this isnt 100% true), completely deserted except for byakuren herself. Maybe and just maybe, the fact that shinki's devil recitation left the makai burning with magic purple fire and the fact that the hokkai is completely deserted is related.
That being clear, to your comment, she never used the master spark, nor the cloning technique spells on mystic square, her "bomb" was something with involved lights, flowers, a pink background and massive damage to anything on the screen. While powerfull, it was a very unpolished ability, and it makes sense that she after recovering a bit from the defeat started to learn new magic. Also, she seems like the type of hiding her problems or weakness to the others.
P.D. The pc98 era is like the greek's creation myth: As beautiful as complicated, with many many many variations. One just enjoy it, because trying to understand the "cannon" of it is going to be hard as hell XD
Ah, I'm stuck, aren't I?...Kh!!If it's come to this...Then I have nothing to stop it but my bare hands.I've been fully deceived.Surprise attacks.
Running around.
Outrageous bluffs.I don't have a reason to obsess over winning. It's fine. They got me...Now that I think about it, this has been the aim of these girls' attacks from the start. The bugs.
The songs.
The darkness.
All blocking my vision.I can't use Master Spark.
I can't get through with normal Danmaku.
I can't run away.Well, it's fine. I've had my fun. These girls have done their best in their own way.
I'm fine-All to take my attention away from Cirno and the board."I'm fine losing like this."You can't be thinking something like that, can you?
