Thanks, I did find that kanji after all then, though since my dictionnary was giving me a "illuminate" meaning, i didn't get it at all.

I'm guessing Shinki in this universe is one of those hug-happy aunts that hug very very tightly.

Can Makai really be translated to Hell? Isn't Hell = Jigoku?

Look under 「照れる」　（てれる）. When learning Japanese, okurigana (the kana that follows a kanji stem) is very important　for looking up words, especially for verbs.

The word means "to be embarrassed" or "to be shy".

They're both translatable as "hell," although I think "Makai" is more like "spirit world."
