Cool - I'm actually playing FFXII this very second, I pop on here for a second and see this. :) There's surprisingly little FFXII hentai, then again the only FFs with a reasonable amount are FFVII and FFX/X-2. I suppose there's quite a lot of XI too, but the first six games are poorly served then VIII and IX seem pretty scarce too.
comment #54827 Kind of ironic considering that it's just a 3D version of all the FFs before FFVII. Even VII had very cartoonish, super-deformed characters come to think of it.
And now FFIII remake on the DS and FFXII RW on the DS has similarly "cute" graphics. So, in other words, anyone who singles out IX for having "childish graphics" is a total retard.
FFIX is also one of my favourites. Though I think it dramatically dropped in quality a while after you leave the Mist Continent. It had this amazing density and atmosphere on that first continent but seemed to lack it 90% of the time afterwards - to me it just kept going off the Mist Continent's momentum really and didn't add much else from then on.
I don't know if you know this, but FFIX wasn't originally meant to be a numbered FF - it was intended to be FF Gaiden (Side story) and was going to be a fun homage to all the FF games over the years. For some reason it ended up being entered into the series as IX - probably because they were so pleased with the results. Think of all the references though, whether it be the character Garland (as seen as the bad guy in FF1), Cloud's sword on the wall in one of the weapon shops (described as "looks like a sword a spiky haired guy I know used to own" or something to that effect) and other things like the names of lots of the minor characters - like Queen Hilda IIRC.
VII is my favorite but IX is very close behind. Actually there isn't a character I didn't like in either VI or IX, which is something I can't say about VII (Cait Sith and Yuffie STAY dead in my save file). I won't comment on VIII or X ...
comment #54975 I half agree with you... FFVII is my favourite FF - I don't think it's the *best* one by any means, but it's the one that was most magical to me at the time, and the one that means to most to me. Sort of like a film that you watch when you're little and love for the rest of your life, whereas if you'd first seen it when you were, say, 25 you'd just think "meh, not bad".
As for the characters - yes, I agree but with different characters. I also couldn't like Cait Sith because it was just a machine, I would have liked it if Reeve was there controlling various machines for his attacks instead - but that would have ruined the plot twist, of course. However, I did like Yuffie. The other character I didn't like was Cid. I liked Red XIII, Barret and Vincent but actually just totally neglected to use them. My party was Cloud, Tifa and Yuffie - ah, happy days :P.
As for FFVI, which you said you liked all the characters for, and FFIX - well I almost agree... I just didn't like the kid from VI (Gar or something...) or Quina from FFIX. Incidentally both Blue Mages... :o
Actually, FFXII is the first FF where I've wanted to use all the characters. Well, out of the ones where you can actually edit your party (unlike FFI and FFV for example).
