This artist managed to make Yukari's personality complicated to comprehend. Not to mention many youkais are selfish...
This story is probably referencing Yukari's name. 紫 means purple, but normally it's read as murasaki not yukari. It's read yukari when it's used in the expression "ゆかり(紫)の色" which was a figurative expression to mean "color of yearning (for loved one, etc)". Yukari mentions the spectrum in this story as well.
Also, Yukari and Reimu's relationship has yet another significance. In Imperishable Night, the YukaRei team is called the border team. Notice that Reimu's signature color is red while Yukari represents violet. That's right, the border colors of the visible light spectrum.
There's a lot to use imagination on in Touhou. I'm quite impressed at how Nakatani used these elements.
Not to mention the name 'Yakumo' itself. Rinnosuke does explain his theory about the name & its connection to Hakurei shrine maiden (as present one, Reimu).

I thought so too.

But isn't Yukari supposed to be complicated? She is unpredictable, spontaneous, dangerous, protective, playful, powerful, mysterious, which sound really hard to comprehend most of the time.
So this guy depicts Yukari a lot? Good. His Yukari is very well done, so, her being in my top three favorite Touhou characters I'll have look at his other work.
if I return it so soon, she will see my blushing face.BecauseJust for now, let me have the red I can never catch......all for myself.
