I continued to keep an eye for S-syogo's tweets after he, again, got hospitalized and nearly died . I'll just say, reading his tweets, my respect towards him grew ten times.
I even sent him a message in Japanese twice, and actually received replies. One of the messages I sent was in pretty bad Japanese, so I think I may have offended him though.

Oh, wow. My heart skipped at that part. What happened?
I can't say for certain that I interpreted his tweets correctly, but here's the story. He got involved in some accident some time ago. Then about two weeks ago his surgery wounds reopened and he suffered from internal bleeding that, according to his doctor, would have killed him if he were mere days later in reaching the hospital. He said something about his neck and his arms(!) I think.
It was so bad that he actually lost optimism for some time. I've always had an high opinion of him for remaining optimistic even with his injuries, but this time he actually appeared so depressed that it quite alarmed me.
Aww damn. That made me shiver a bit. Please tell him to rest and recover for now until he is tip-top shape once again. I pray for his recovery and hope this doesn't happen again.
By all that is holy... he followed my twitter account, thanking me for giving him encouraging messages. I've never been this honored before.

Apparently that's also what his boss told him to. He seemed to care about S-syogo quite a lot.
P.S. Any evidence that there was some big conflict that brought him down? Other people's tweets?
Some of his arts have been suspected for tracing, and said arts were sold in an artbook at some event.
Granted, he has a lot of original works himself, but the ones he sells just happened to be the ones with some problems. Thus, he was shunned by the Japanese fandom and he stepped away.
That's basically what happened in general, according to a Japanese friend of mine who followed this incident. If you want proof, then I'd have to ask him again about it.
