As much as I hate Apple, I really respect him for raising such a powerful company, challenging the competition even when it feels hopeless and respecting the environment.
Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs. You did fantastic work people can be very proud of.

C'mon what? What do you want to say? Say it. Sure Steve Jobs was a harsh and dictatorial CEO and was ruthless in competition, a complete asshole in person and all, but c'mon now.
Can you deny that he was incredibly influential in shaping today's world where people use i-tunes to buy music and use i-pods to listen to those music, reading news and twittering in i-pads, while artists and programmers work using Mac-Books? I don't think so.

This is the world as you see it? I kind of envy you. Really.

Oh well then maybe I should have extra-specifically said [world of middle class and above who are wealthy enough to afford Apple products, living mostly in G20 developed countries] as if it mattered. Sorry if I have offended you.
No, you haven't offended me, but you do seem quite offended yourself. I admire Jobs for what he did with Apple and I'm sad he died at this age, but I usually have expressions like "the iconic genius of our century" and "changed the way we live" reserved for different kinds of people. He just filled a gap in the market and set a new trend.

All right, I see your point. But, wouldn't you say Ford and Rockefeller were "iconic genius" who "changed the way we live"? They were 'evil' money-grabbing, greedy capitalist bastards, but their influences live on even today. I was saying in that sense. Maybe you reserve those terms for more morally laudable people, but I can respect that.
Ah-I guess I'll just stop here.
To clarify some things; first of all, I am not a Mac user, I am a PC user since I am a PC-gamer. Secondly, I myself don't use ipod but use good-ol portable CD-player. Thirdly, I think of i-pad as a very amusing and fancy toy, but not much more than that. Lastly, in terms of worker's rights and market monopolization, I am very much against Apple.
But still, I personally thought Jobs was one of the most significant individuals of our time who had significant influence through the products of Apple, and saw it fit to morn his passing. Alas, 'tis a pity that some people saw my expressions unfitting enough to give 'thumbs down'. This 'thumbs down' system here on danbooru can sometimes be really bugging, you know.
Oh no, it's got nothing to do with capitalism. Not even morality. Things that change the world do so regardless of their inherit moral value - people behind Manhattan project definitely changed the world forever. Hell, even Hitler did. I just have different enough criteria for world-shaking changes and the people behind them, that labeling Jobs as one rubs me the wrong way, with all due respect.
I feel without Steve Jobs coming back and retaking control of Apple. I believe that Apple would have folded years sooner. Long with the iTunes, iPod, iPhone, and iPad would have never had happen.
Really Microsoft wasn't going to spend time and money in something like that. They were making a killing on making software we use. Long with all the phone companies out there. As it would be too costly for them.
Yet Apple was already losing sells and had no hope. Making a move that thought throughout the world as a backstabbing. Steve having Apple Computers team up with Microsoft. He made up for it will all the cool technology we cannot really see without.
Steve Jobs was a man that shall live in history of having the human race taking one step close to the future that we seen in all those sci-fi films.
Rest in Peace Mister Jobs. May you watch from heaven and guide the company that you dragged from the edge with our own hands.
PS...I am not a big Mac Fan but I see the importance of the man over the company.
I'm with Heparine. No disrespect to Mr Jobs, but it is very indicative of the value society places on consumerism and the people fostering those values.
