It's true that the curvature of the plate, presumably shaped for her breasts specifically, is ridiculous and inefficient; a thrust directed toward the chest would naturally tend to slide in between the two mounds. On the other hand, even with its horribly inefficient design, iron/steel armor would still offer significant protection, particularly from cutting attacks, and is likely to deflect a thrust despite it being guided to her sternum. At the very least, it's a whole lot better than going into battle with no armor at all.

Maybe the while thing is just a complicated bra, is not like a lot of people can get close to her anyways.
