People are really pushing the couple thing in FF13. I can't really find any romance in it (which i like mind you). Still I know a good picture when i see one.
No not at all. They develop a close bond and they do in fact care about each other. But you know how people like to take things...to the next level and things like these happen.
It may just be me but I see a growing bond though-out most there time with each other. I'm trying not to say anything for people that have not played the game but they seem to grow with each others word's and actions through out the game.
If you look at most cut scenes they stay rather close to each other. Also towered the end of the game she looks at him many times with a smile.
It may just be me but I like this couple they grow together that's how most couples are.
Its pretty apparent that they would have never had any development without each other. Light would still want to destroy cocoon and Hope would still be weak and hateful towered snow.

You can't say that for sure. They are either a couple (which is heavily implied) or they have adopted each other as siblings. They are not blood related.

That aside. Fang always refers to Vanille as her "partner". And if one of my siblings were to turn into a l'cie and bound to be cieth or crystal, I wouldnt say something super dramatic as "I'll tear down the sky if it'll save her."
Saying that isn't what siblings or close friends would say.(It's certainly not what Lightning said when Serah turned to crystal)
When Hope says Which is your house? Vanille replies" What do you mean..which is OUR house?" Sure you can say they lived together as sisters, but given the hints you wouldnt think like that.
Fang was meant to be a man. Start visualizing Fang as a man and then think of the situation between him & Vanille, THEN you wouldnt say what you just said.
And just for the record, if you've seen at least one or two yuri animes &/or mangas, the ending scene of the game where Fang & Vanille are turned to crystal and the way they are together is THE scene represented all the time in Yuri .
Also damn it, I'm writing a story here -.-
Fang talks about Vanille like you talk about a significant other... that their life is infinitely more important than yours, yes she does care about the other members , but vanille is her #1 priority. She doesn't treat her like a comrade in arms(like she treats Lightning or the others). Not even close. And Vanille... remember when Sahz asked her if she had a special someone? She immediately got quiet and looked sad, and had an inner monologue about waiting for the right time to tell him about everything. Clearly the question made her think of Fang.
