Krugger, it was episode 4 of Night Visions (a show that aired briefly on FOX in 2001 before it got canceled, which was a damn shame since it was an awesome show). The psychiatrist was played by Luke Perry.

Oh thanks for that. I never saw the Night Visions but I remember watching the Twilight Zone(fear of plane flight at night remains) long ago black and white.
