The combination of Arceus, the deity of life, and Giratina, implied to be the deity of death. I hereby dub this fusion: Complete Arceus, the god of life and death.

What? Where are you guys getting these sources?
Arceus is the God Pokemon, so it created Giratina along with Palkia and Dialga. Palkia and Dialga are masters of space and time, and Giratina is the master of alternate dimensions.

Giratina is the 'Renegade' Pokemon, who is located in his own world (either Turnback Cave or Distortion World, depending on your game). With Arceus as the "Pokegod" of sorts, and the Platinum Pokedex entry saying he was banished for his violence, it's not too far a leap of logic to assume he's a "Pokelucifer".
As for the 'death god' theory, it's noted that his little pad in Turnback Cave is, according to the D/P Pokedex entry, an 'ancient cemetery'.

From a more sophisticated understand, since Palkia and Dialga govern space and time, Giratina belongs in the Distortion/Reverse World in between, technically known as Purgatory. Of course, Purgatory is mostly related to Heaven and Hell, but I doubt there will be legendary pokemon of the sort.

1 year agoStated in HG/SS by Cynthia in the Sinjo ruins that Giratina is tied to Antimatter. Hell we got a creator of the series confirming this also.
