No. This is Sig 556, chambered in 5.56x45 NATO/.223 Rem.

Battle rifles are chambered in full power cartridges
such as 7.62x51 NATO/.308 Win, .30-06, 7.62x54R etc...

Actually, that looks a bit too long to be a 556. The heatshield isn't correct for a 556 either. I'd say a 550, personally.

It's more of a wikipedia thing. Rifles can be easily distinguishable once you are familiar with the types used in the army.
