100 years to repay 1,000,000 yen means they'd get only 10,000 yen a year. Less than 1,000 yen a month.

That seems incredibly low to me...they seem to be using relatively modern prices for certain things...and 1,000 yen will barely pay for a decent dinner. It's about ten bucks.

Just a bit of weirdness...

I'm fairly certain Gensokyo yen is not nearly as inflated in value as Outside-World yen.
