Guns require matainence, one part of that is proper care to clean it out. Shooting a weapon leaves debris and gunk in the barrel, that will gunk up the rifling, making it less accurate. If you properly maintain a weapon, you should be able to use the same barrel and mechanics long before their expected lifespan.
