Like I said, it's general and it's petty, but I see the connection. The only reason Kamina was allowed to die in his series is because Simon was right behind him to take the reins. Whereas Naruto is one of a kind in his story; basically, the only dickhead given any kind of limelight.

The difference between TTGL and Naruto is that TTGL had an end in sight from the first day. Naruto still doesn't after almost ten years.

And that actually GL is a good series.

TTGL had an end in sight that was more or less foretold in the first episode. It was somewhat ambiguous, but still there.

The scope of Naruto is such that you couldn't pull off something like that; as such, that level of foreshadowing would tell entirely too much of the story.

Naruto's ending has been there since the beginning; as a writer, I know how difficult it would be to write such an intricate story if you didn't already have an ending in mind. It's just that we readers- or watchers- don't know the ending yet.

Clearly you know nothing of shounen, which is mostly made up as they go along.

Yeah, sorry, TTGL is clearly superior to everything Naruto has been and will be. Those "what i watched what i expected what i got" pics are made from a person who just got into anime about, maybe, 2 years ago and therefore can't tell sh*t. It cracks me up everytime i see one of those stupid pics...

I'm sure the meaning is that Gurren Lagann is a pretty mindless anime. Every episode was pretty much the same, just going with characters yelling to gain power and robots getting bigger. Kind of like how most shounen is.

TTGL is nothing more than a typical shounen show, filled to the brim with nonsense, bullshit morals, and fan service.

However, it uses those elements in a way which is incredibly awesome. A show doesn't have to be amazingly original and clever to be great. It can be cliche and derivative, as long as those elements are used in a unique, clever, or exciting fashion.

This picture truly misses the point.
TTGL never took itself serious. It parodies the typical clichés and stereotypes of a shounen series by going totally overboard and beyond.
The end result is a highly entertaining trainwreck show.
Naruto, in contrast, DOES take itself very serious and fails while doing so.
The creator of this picture did miss this significant difference, as do some of the commentators here.
Some of them even call the others "butthurt", but that's only the last resort for people who can't fully comprehend/didn't get the point.
