That makes me think. Could this go in the Hilarious in Hindsight pool? Kotomi quotes The Dandelion Girl all through her arc, and then GLaDOS spews out that same line.

She was built when Aperture Science was in the red, remember? Doubt they could have afforded to outsource (or at the very least, the financial guys wouldn't have done so unless Johnson was still alive)

In that case, they also would not really have the money to make the best equipment and went cheaper. Hence her cores are... toast.
