Working on KS has been an adventure and a half! I'm really grateful for the experience, and I hope everyone can enjoy the culmination of the team's hard work! In the meantime, let's take an example from the girls and do something artistic or active this summer!

Tried extracting from the original PDF in PNG@250dpi
Is it better quality now?
Better, but still botchered. If you can specify the dpi, you’re basically creating screenshots, aren’t you? Not sure what you used before, but have you tried a program like pdfimages to extract the images from the PDF without recompression? Every recompression or resampling can only make it worse.

The first batch were extracted by someone else (and in hindsight, I shouldn't have uploaded them).
I wrote an AppleScript which uses OSX's inbuilt Adobe-integration to extract the images in whatever format I want (e.g. PNG, JPG, etc.) but I'm pretty sure the problem is with the source PDF.

I just checked the PDF myself and the images I extracted from there (no recompression) have visible but acceptable JPEG artifacts and no resizing artifacts or staircasing at all. The images are 1414x1989 pixels, btw.

If you could upload & parent:child the first batch then, that would be great.
