Upload Feedback Thread - post here if your uploads keep getting deleted

So with post #2583479 I had uploaded it thinking that even if the proportions were a bit off, that the image was fine thanks to it being from Megami which images from are pretty much always approved and that I had seen similar images be approved with no issue. Clearly this wasn't the case, given it's deletion, which I'm totally fine with. But in the future, should I scrutinize images from said sources just as much as any other image, whether uploading them myself or with other people's uploads from those?

I don't get your question, but it's not the source "we" are judging, but the image itself (unless there is no source maybe).

- Sketchy (stuff like the ability to see the girl's hair between the outline of the skirt and the filled in part of it, and these outlines being visible over things that they shouldn't be visible over or just going off in seemingly random directions with no relation to the rest of the picture).
- Girl's left arm is an odd shape.
- Girl's left leg is further out than it should be which would mean that the resulting shape and posture of the upper body would be somewhat unnatural, and the other side of the body doesn't seem to be contorted enough to match this.

Those look like weak reasons to me, but I suppose I need to refine my standards. Alright then.

I think the 1st one is borderline and might approve it if I had powers. The Emiya has the same bleeding colors problems that are exacerbated by all the white around it, making it a tough call. I agree with Kuudere's shadow on the Ruler picture, the most glaring being that left arm.
Really it comes less down to 'why should I approve this/do I personally like this' rather than what are the glaring marks against it in most of these borderline cases I would guess.

I'd say, yeah. It's kinda tricky even when uploading from a reliable source sometimes -- sometimes you never know if you'll be the first to upload a deleted image from them, and that was certainly the case with me on a few artists/sources. Sometimes you upload a better version of an existing image that was approved or upped by someone else, and then that gets noticed and gets both images flagged.

I almost never flag anything aside from samples, but I've been lamenting lately if I should (for example, in a flagging for both sample + QC), and if an approver sees it and decides not to upload the better one, then so be the case.

So, this is going to sound really weird, but I think the last picture I posted completely vanished off of Danbooru. I checked back today to see if it got auto-deleted after 3 days, and - to my surprise - couldn't find the picture at all. user:freecom status:any shows the second latest picture I posted. Wish I kept the post number so I can "link" it again, as it were.

What exactly happened there? Did someone actually not like the picture that much that it just got wiped from the site forever (probably not likely), or did something bug out because the source was from Discord? (I found the pic on this thread - people on Reddit sadly almost never post sources, so I just made do with what I had.)

You are a Member-level user. You can't see images that are tagged with the aforementioned tag.

It’s by nigiriushi, who is a banned artist.

Edit: Provence never sleeps; Provence never eats; Provence is there, watching you, watching you upload bad art, watching you mistag your uploads, watching you ask questions on the forum, always watching you, you and you too.

Provence is the German bogeyman, changing his name every few months so you won't find him and expect him. You wanted to upload something good? Too bad! He already uploaded it and you're stuck with the trash.

Fair enough, it's hard to know if this is the case when people don't link their sources. Would be cool if people got an automatic message or something saying a picture got tagged with banned artist - any sort of forewarning rather than a picture seemingly go poof.

Okay then...

Hm, looks like Discord does resampling of images uploaded. I got a different md5 from an image I was playing with.

This is really why I don't trust unoriginal sources. That, and I believe Discord uploads expire after some time, so the "source" link won't be live for long.

If you want to be a good uploader, you should follow trusted sources that are from the original artist (blog, pixiv (howto:pixiv), twitter (howto:twitter)) and if not that, at the very least somewhat reliable (deleted originals that are live on imgur or awwnime, for example). I'm not exactly sure what is with the rising of duplicate uploads from untrusted sources as of late, but I've had to delete a few that I deemed vastly unworthy of keeping (resampled images, minute modifications, artifacts and whatever else).

Eight of my twelve uploads three days ago were completely ignored and then suddenly have a ton of disapprovals on them today. One I will agree might not be up to snuff but what's especially weird is that one is simply an alternate version of one that was accepted. The heck?

I've been noticing this on a lot of perfectly acceptable images lately, what's the deal? Are quality standards going up or something?

EDIT: Er, also, sorry if this isn't exactly a proper place to put this. I felt it was relevant enough to not justify a new thread.

Updated

Ehmm, that's not really quite how it works. Users without approval permissions cannot view the status of approval until the very last day in the queue, where by then usually about ~10+ approvers already have looked at it. As for the post that got accepted, you're probably going to have to ask @Fujishiro.

The current guideline for approvals is just to approve what we like enough, enough to put our name on. I wasn't particularly impressed with the artstyle in those works (although I do follow the artist), so I clicked no interest with those. I might approve or undelete them on a day where I'm feeling better, but that's just how it is for now.

The moderation took a hit when user #460797 deleted their account a few days ago. It was for various reasons, but that's the current state of things.

Huh? I've been here a long time but only got permissions to approve images like a month ago. I just like being able to approve things I like. Most of the things I would approve are already approved anyway. I guess the one pic I approved of yours @Cephalopa post #2661651 I just happened to like. The others not so much. I don't even watch Kemono Friends. But yeah it certainly, "seems" like Danbooru has gone full force try-hard quality as of late. I haven't been too involved politically with the boards inner workings but just from my one month of being involved I can tell things have gotten more strict. It's really pretty random though. I would personally favor a system that auto-approves images with 5-10+ favorites alongside janitors/builders/whatever, but that is not the case. My own post #2657687 that I uploaded had like 15-20 favorites but was tagged as, "no interest" by 8 moderators and was about to be trashed until Apollyon approved it. I think it's a pretty acceptable image too so I was pretty disappointed. So yeah, it just really depends on who is on and how people are feelings I guess. I feel like there's a lot of fear mongering going on behind the scenes, people afraid of approving things that may end up getting deleted or challenged (flagged) by others.. or afraid of seeming like they have bad taste. Who knows. Everyone has different taste. Just how it is. I could definitely (probably) approve like 50% more images than I do, but I don't. If people want Danbooru to become some holy sanctuary for quality then I guess that's the path to stick to. But God knows we're a ways off from there still. I've seen moderators and builders approve some good stuff and then go and upload some, what I think, is poor or worse quality stuff than the stuff they approved. It's really all a big mess to be honest.
