Lightning Farron's real name.

Alias lightning_farron -> eclair_farron

Pseudonym -> real name.

Someone might say this is a spoiler, hence the thread title, but it really isn't. The scene in which her name is revealed wouldn't be affected by you knowing it. All the impact is based on the fact that it's used, not what her name actually is.

The official websites seem to go out of their way from using her real name though. Can't say I can read the Japanese sites (XIII and XIII-2 ), but both North American sites (XIII and XIII-2) and both UK sites (XIII and XIII) make no mention of her real name. The XIII sites do mention that "Lightning" is not her real name, but the XIII-2 sites do not mention it at all.

I do not think I could support aliasing to her real name, given the avoidance by official sources to use it, particularly for XIII-2 (which would suggest they consider it a spoiler). Furthermore it seems from looking around that she herself changed her name to Lightning (essentially discarding her old name) and the point at which the player jumps into the storyline she is only using her new name. I think in most cases like this we would tend to go with her introduced name as opposed to her original or true name.

Seems like that's just marketing to me. Like saying "Ooo isn't she mysterious?" when she really isn't, at least not more than anyone else. Your other points are reasonable though.

I also favor keeping it as Lightning.

You don't learn Lighting's real name until the ass end of Chapter 11 (which is about a good 20-25 hours into the game if you rush through everything), and FF13-2 avoids using it completely. It's a spoiler.

I also don't support an alias from real name -> pseudonym since it'll blatantly spoil it on the bottom of the wiki. Not that a alias is even necessary, as no one had a problem with it until now.

Regardless of where it's mentioned if it's only mentioned once and completely disregarded in the sequel it's not really good for an alias. All it will do is confuse people who try to search the original tag.
